Worker Attributes

Set up custom attributes to help manage and organize your workers.

Updated over a week ago

Overview

Attributes are flexible labels that you can assign to individual workers. They can make filtering and segment creation easy to set up and maintain.

Create New Attributes from Settings

To set up a new worker attribute, follow these steps:

  1. Click Settings in the sidebar

  2. Select the Worker Attributes option

  3. Click the Add Attribute button in the top right corner

  4. In the Add Attribute pop-up that appears, fill out the following fields:

    • Attribute Label: The label of your attribute that will be shown when you add it to a worker's profile and give it a value (ex. 'Date of Birth' or 'Years of Experience')

    • Attribute Type: This dictates what kind of values you can enter in the attribute, when adding it to a worker:

      • String (plain text): Free-text values

      • Number: Numerical values

      • Date: A specific date (month, day, and year)

      • Boolean: True or False

      • Select: choose from a list of options

      • Address: enter a business or residential address

      • Media: upload a file or document

      • Signature: tied to Document Signature templates

      • Compliance Document: tied to a compliance check document

  5. Optionally, select the Protect attribute checkbox if you would like for the value of this attribute to be hidden by default in the worker's profile

    1. This can be useful for attributes whose values may contain sensitive data that should be hidden to start, such as Social Security Numbers or bank account details

    2. Attributes with this option selected will display like this (until a user selects the Edit button to view/update the attribute value):

  6. Click Add to save your new attribute

This new attribute will be added to the Worker Attributes table, which lists all attributes available for your company.

Taking Action on an Existing Attribute

Once an attribute has been created, you can take three actions on it from the more actions button:

  • Edit: edit the label of an attribute, and if it's a protected value (note: you can't change the type of attribute after it's been created)

  • Delete: deletes the attribute entirely, including from worker profiles

  • Manage Webhooks: configure a webhook to be triggered on any custom attribute. The webhook URL that is configured here will be triggered when the value of this attribute changes for any worker.

Create an Attribute from a Worker Profile

These same steps can also be taken from directly within a worker profile. This does two things at once: creates a new attribute, and adds it directly to the selected worker's profile for you to add in a value. To do so:

  1. Go to the Workers page

  2. Select any worker from the table by clicking on their name

  3. In the window that opens, click the Add Attribute button in the top right

  4. Fill out the Attribute Label and Attribute Type fields

  5. Optionally select the protect attribute checkbox if you want values for this attribute to be hidden by default

  6. Click Add to create your new attribute and add it to this worker's profile at the same time

To add a value for an attribute, click the Edit button (pencil icon) next to the attribute in the worker's profile.
