The first step of Referrals setup up is creating your general organic Referral program. This referral program will include a Worker Referrals Portal page for your existing workers, and an Applicant Landing page that referred candidates will first see when they click a referral link. Finally, as part of the Referral program setup, you’ll also select which of your existing workers to target for Referrals messaging.
Creating Your Referral Program
To create your Referral program, follow the steps below:
Log in to Worker Experience and click Referrals in the left sidebar.
Click Begin Set-up.
Create your Worker referral page header. This will be the first text your workers see so keep it short and sweet but also enticing to encourage them to read more. You can add text, web links, images, and Merge Keys. Merge Keys can be used to pull in information such as the worker’s name for a personal touch. A preview of the portal will be visible on the right as you make edits.
Click Continue.
Next, you’ll create the Applicant Landing page to get referred candidates excited to apply. Just like the header, you can add text, web links, images, and Merge Keys. You can also adjust the “relation to referrer” question text if desired. However, you cannot change the answers to this question.
Click Continue.
Finally, select the worker Segments that you want to send the Worker Portal Referral page to as well as the communication method. You can send via text, email, or both. All communication content can also be customized.
You can also select reminder messages either one time after the initial announcement, or on a recurring basis.
Tip: If you plan to have incentivized campaigns targeting most workers, we advise you to leverage reminder messages only in campaigns to avoid spamming workers. Reminder message times reflect the user’s time zone.
Click Launch Referrals.
Important Note!
In addition to creating your general referral program, you will also need to create campaigns to receive referrals from your workers. Review this help center article for more information on campaigns.
Editing the Referral Program
To make changes to the Referral program after it is live, follow the steps below:
Click on your company logo in the left sidebar and then Settings.
Click the Referrals tile.
Click Edit Program.
Make any desired changes.
To turn off the program entirely, click the enabled toggle on the Referral’s settings page. This can be useful if you have workers in your account using other products, but aren’t yet ready to make your Referrals program available to your workers.
Editing Terms & Conditions and Retention Metrics
To track average retention on Openings that are not part of an incentivized campaign with a defined payout condition, set your retention metric in Referrals Settings.
You can also edit your company’s terms and conditions visible to workers in their portal. Fountain recommends keeping the referrals attribution content detailing how referrals will be associated with a campaign, that it is based on when the referred applicant actually applies (before a campaign ends), and which Opening they apply to (regardless of whether the referred applicant is later moved to a different Opening).
